Looked after right, your Oxford piece will outlast you. Here's how to clean it, store it, and keep it looking like the day it left our workshop.

Store Apart

Keep each piece in its own pouch or compartment. Diamonds are hard enough to scratch other gemstones — and chains can tangle and kink when stored loose.

Last On, First Off

Put your jewelry on after lotion, perfume, hairspray, and makeup. Take it off before swimming, showering, working out, or sleeping.

Clean Often

A weekly soak in warm water with a drop of mild dish soap, then a soft brush, will keep diamonds sparkling and metal looking new.

HOW TO CLEAN

At-home cleaning · 5 minutes

01 Fill a small bowl with warm (not hot) water and add a few drops of mild dish soap. Avoid harsh detergents, ammonia, or bleach.

02 Soak the piece for 10–15 minutes to loosen any oils, lotion residue, or buildup.For chains, swirl gently to keep links from tangling.

03 Brush gently with a soft toothbrush — pay attention to the underside of stones where dirt collects and dulls sparkle.

04 Rinse thoroughly under running water. Plug the drain or use a strainer just in case.

05 Pat dry with a soft, lint-free cloth. A microfiber cloth or a clean cotton t-shirt works perfectly.

Avoid

Ultrasonic cleaners on pieces with treated stones, opals, pearls, emeralds, or with glued-in elements. When in doubt, hand-wash only — or send the piece back to us for a free professional cleaning.

BY METAL TYPE

What to do — and not do — for each material

YG 14K Yellow Gold: the most stable. Mild soap and water are all you need. Avoid chlorine (pool, hot tub) which can break down the alloy over time.

WG 14K White Gold: rhodium-plated for that bright white finish. Plating wears off slowly over years of wear — we offer free re-plating on Oxford pieces.

RG 14K Rose Gold: the copper alloy can darken slightly over time, which many people love. To restore the original tone, polish with a jeweler's cloth.

SS Sterling Silver: tarnishes when exposed to air, sulfur, and moisture. Store in an airtight bag with an anti-tarnish strip when not wearing. Polish with a silver cloth — never use abrasive cleaners.

PT Platinum: the toughest of the bunch. Develops a soft patina over time which can be polished out by any jeweler.

STORAGE

How to keep pieces looking new between wears

01 Use the Oxford box. Each piece ships in our signature box — the lining is anti-tarnish for silver and the compartments prevent contact between pieces.

02 Keep it dry. Bathrooms are the worst place for jewelry — humidity accelerates tarnish and corrosion. A bedroom drawer or closet is ideal.

03 Hang chains. If you have multiple chains, hang them on hooks or a chain holder rather than coiling them up — prevents kinks.

04 For long-term storage, use small zip bags with anti-tarnish strips for silver, and any clean dry pouch for gold and platinum.
